Hello, I’m Chelsea. The silversmith of Silver Salt and Stone Jewelry.
I was born and raised in Oceanside, a coastal, surf town in Southern California, where I still reside today. In my free time when I’m not making jewelry I love to surf, read, or put in the miles on my road bike. Inspiration for Silver Salt and Stone Jewelry comes from traveling and my life adventures. When I was a child, my family spent time traveling all over the world. During each visit to a new place, I always sought to find a piece of silver jewelry, unique to the town or country we were traveling in. My intention was to gather one piece along the way from each destination, as a personal symbol of the experience, unique to the culture and people. I’m a minimalist, practical person, so a small wearable keepsake was the best way I could bring the travels home with me, outside of the memories. As a young adult, I continued to travel and curate my own silver collection. — Flash forward a few more years, to a period of self-reflection, in which I decided that I wanted to strengthen my roots here at home and find my calling in some sort of art based career. While soul searching, I decided to take silver-smithing classes, just for fun, to gain some knowledge and express my creativity. The first day I stepped into the studio and got my hands on the silver, I knew I had found my labor of love. I just adore how the fabrication process of jewelry is dirty, rugged and labor intensive, yet the finished product is just the opposite, so polished and pristine. I love how each piece of jewelry creates a way to make a connection to another person, and often times leads to an inspiring conversation, a meaningful love story or something learned. The ability to express myself through wearable art and to connect to others is really why I do this. It’s about something so much bigger than just a job. It’s about touching peoples lives or helping one person spread love to another with a gift of something special. To create heirloom pieces, to be passed on through the generations of family to come, and most importantly, to evoke joy in the people wearing these beloved pieces. Every day I feel gratitude to have found my passion, to continuously grow, create and learn, even as the years pass. Thank you for supporting my dreams and checking out Silver Salt and Stone.
With all my love,
Chelsea
